Manual vs Auto Advance (ProNounce)

ProNounce

ProNounce is MarchingOrder’s service for professional, pre-recorded name reading. Our talented and diverse team of voiceover artists, experienced in dozens of language specialties, combined with AI-synthesized voice audio, ensures that we can help you give your graduates the moment they deserve. The audio files are included with your ceremony software and will be played through your event sound system when a graduate’s printed card or electronic GradPass is scanned near the stage.

Scanning Options

As with all MarchingOrder products, ProNounce is designed to be flexible. It accommodates a wide variety of stage setups and implementation preferences.

Auto-Advance vs. Manual Advance

Auto-Advance is good for briskly paced ceremonies where graduates are scanned on or near the stage, and their name is immediately announced and displayed before they cross the stage. When using ProNounce pre-recorded names, we recommend using Auto Advance as it simplifies the stage setup and timing.

For more information on these two settings, review the article on Manual vs Auto Advance.

Scanned by Staff vs Scanned by Graduate

Since the names are pre-recorded, graduates can scan their GradPass or card themselves. To facilitate this, use the scanning stand provided with your QR code scanner, enabling "hands-free mode." Position the scanning station directly next to the graduate release point, and have someone nearby to provide instructions to the graduates as they approach the stage. Alternatively, a staff member can handle the scanning of cards, labels, and GradPasses.

Backup Name Reader

Any graduates that were included prior to the recording list date will have a recording. In the case of late additions or lost / damaged cards, a backup name reader should be seated on-stage and ready to announce names. They will need to have access to a live microphone (we recommend confirming with A/V that the mic is turned on prior to the ceremony).
