Using a Mac for Your MarchingOrder Ceremony

Using a Mac for Your MarchingOrder Ceremony

Using a Mac Laptop to Run the Director Software
Mac-compatible versions of MarchingOrder Director are available by special request. These requests must be submitted before your data processing deadline.
Note: Dual Line software is not available for Mac.

The software’s functionality and display settings are essentially the same for Mac as they are for PC, but some of the details may vary.

For example, the location of the menu toolbar. On a PC, the MarchingOrder Director’s toolbar is attached to the top of the software’s home screen. Menus like File, Logs and Import/Export will be accessible via the dropdowns at the very top of your desktop window.

Extracting the Software

On a Mac, after you download your software as a .zip file to the desktop, you can simply double-click it to extract all files to a new folder on the desktop.

Running the Software

Since the MarchingOrder Director software is an application downloaded from the internet, you may see a warning dialogue window pop up when you first launch the software. To relax your security settings and allow the MarchingOrder Director to run, please follow these steps:
  1. Open your computer’s Settings menu.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll down to Security and see the box that says “Allow applications downloaded from…”.
  4. Choose “App Store and identified developers”.

Note: If your computer provider has installed any additional third party security software that may interfere with the software, please remove or disable those applications before your ceremony.

Extend Your Display

Follow these instructions to extend your display on a Mac:
  1. Connect and turn on your additional display.
  2. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, then Display.
  3. Click the Arrangement tab: make sure that Mirror Displays is not checked (pictured here).
  4. Click the Display tab: set the resolution on the secondary monitor as needed to match the MarchingOrder software.

Laptop Settings

You will also need to adjust the following configuration settings:
  1. Disable Wi-Fi, screensaver, system sounds, and notifications.
  2. Change power options so that the computer never goes to sleep.
  3. ProNounce Users: Make sure the audio output is set to the appropriate port. We recommend using 3.5mm (the headphone jack) for connecting to audio, and NOT using HDMI as an audio source.

Note: Technical support for Mac versions of the software requires extra time and troubleshooting steps. Also, Mac versions of the software require extra packaging steps to satisfy the rigorous requirements Apple asks of developers. Therefore, we ask that you use the PC version of the software whenever possible. If Mac is your only option, please take careful steps to review your ceremony details before processing, check your equipment early using the sample Mac software, and download and test your ceremony software as soon as possible after it is delivered.
