Configure the Ceremony Display Laptop

Configure the Ceremony Display Laptop

Overview
Change the following settings on the Ceremony Display Laptop to ensure it functions properly during the ceremony:

Disconnect from Wi-Fi

This will prevent automatic updates / restarting, which can disrupt a ceremony – the MarchingOrder Director software does not require Wi-Fi to function
  1. Right-click the wireless icon on the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen to open the wireless menu.
  2. Click the “Wi-Fi” option, this should turn off your internet connection.
  3. The wireless menu should say “Wi-Fi Turned Off” at the top of the menu and the icon should have also changed.

Disable Any Screen Saver

  1. Right-click on the desktop and choose “Personalize” and then “Lock Screen”.
  2. Scroll to bottom of screen and choose “Screen Saver Settings”.
  3. Choose “(None)” then click Apply.

Configure the Laptop so it Never Goes to Sleep

  1. From the Screen Saver Settings window click “Change power settings”.
  2. Find the selected plan and click “Change plan settings”.
  3. Select “Never” for all options for “turn off the display” and “Put the computer to sleep”.

Disable System Sounds

It is particularly important to check / adjust the “System Sounds” settings described below. This will prevent any background sounds from playing to the audience during the ceremony. There are two methods to do this:

Option 1: Edit “Sound Scheme”
  1. Right-click the volume icon in the taskbar
  2. Select “Open Sound Settings”.
  3. In the new window, from the left side menu select “Notifications & Actions”
  4. Under “Get notifications from apps and other senders” toggle the switch to OFF

Option 2: Edit “Volume Mixer”
  1. Right-click the volume icon in the taskbar, and then select “Open Volume Mixer”.
  2. Toggle the “System Sounds” down to a level of “0”.

Extend the Ceremony Display Laptop’s Display

After connecting, extend your display. On most laptops, you can right-click the desktop and click “Display Settings” (pictured below). Scroll down the page and under “Multiple Displays” select “Extend these displays” (pictured below). If you do not see a second display listed, click “Detect” above where you have the option to select displays .

Ensure that your display resolution matches the MarchingOrder software – almost always this is 1920 x 1080. Also, confirm that scaling is set to 100%.

Restart the Software (Before Each Ceremony)

For best performance, MarchingOrder recommends that users restart the MarchingOrder Director software before each ceremony. Do not leave the software open in Begin Ceremony Display mode overnight or for extended periods of time when not in use.
